Basic Kayaking

A 4 hour group lesson (4-6 people). Lesson includes a video, demonstration and on-water instruction. Learn kayak types, design, materials and kayaking terminology as well as forward/reverse strokes, turning strokes, braces, boat entry/exit, use of skirts, and boat fit. On-water portion includes a demonstration of wet exit and re-entry. Price $75

Self and Assisted Rescues

A 3 hour group lesson (4 to 6 people). Lesson includes wet exit with/without a skirt, use to the paddle float, re-entry techniques for solo padlers. Assisted rescures include T rescue, bow-to-stern and bow-to-bow rescues. On-water portion includes experience as a rescuer and rescuee so appropriate dress is very important. Price $60.

Introduction to Kayak Rolling

A 2 hour small group lesson (limited to 4 people). Lesson includes various techniques including the set up, the hip flick, the use of the paddle, and the sweep. Various rolling techniques will be demonstrated. Paddlers will work in pairs with the instructor. Prepare to get wet. This is not merely observing techniques; this involves guided practice. Price: $50
